Snowfest 2011 = Why Hermosa Beach ROCKS!

SPYDER SURFBOARDS TO TURN DOWNTOWN HERMOSA BEACH INTO A WINTER WONDERLAND 

2nd Annual Spyder Snowfest to take place on Saturday, December 10th 

WHAT: SPYDER SNOWFEST 2011 

WHEN: Saturday, December 10th - Noon – 8 PM 

WHERE: Pier Avenue - Hermosa Beach, CA 

Hermosa Beach, CA -- Spyder Surfboards is bringing the ski slopes to the beach on Saturday, December 10th. The second annual Spyder Snowfest will drop 60 tons of snow on Pier Avenue, just a block away from the sands of Hermosa Beach. 

This year “Mount Hermosa” will be even bigger than the inaugural event last year, spanning approximately 120 feet up Pier Avenue down to Hermosa Avenue. The slopes will include a snow covered scaffolding reaching a height of nearly 20 feet along with snowboard rails and fun boxes from Mammoth Mountain. 

Spyder Snowfest will give spectators the opportunity to watch some world class pro and amateur snowboarders put on a display in a trick contest with celebrity judges including two time snowboarder of the year, John Jackson along with snowboarding legend, Mark Frank Montoya. Snowboarding TV personality “The Dingo” will be the emcee for the event. 

Kids ages 15 and under will also have the opportunity to take to the snow during an open sledding session. Participants are encouraged to bring their own sleds. Snow discs will also be provided . No snowboards will be allowed during the open sledding session. 
A child’s snow area will also be open from 1-6 pm at Pier Plaza near the Hermosa Beach Holiday Tree. 

Schedule of Events

Noon – 5 pm: Snow Expo - top Snow Industry companies on display in Pier Plaza 
1 – 4:30 pm: Pro-Am and College Snowboarding Trick Competition 1– 6 pm: Snow area at Pier Plaza open for children 5 and under
5 – 8 pm: Open sledding on Pier Avenue– kids ages 15 and under 

Admission is free and the event is open to the public.
