Game Changer!!! - Apple Prepares Bid For EPL TV Rights! This Gets Apple's TV Product Into Homes!

January 6, 2012

Computer giants Apple are showing interest in joining the billion-pound battle for the next set of live Premier League TV rights when the tender goes out before the end of the season.

The Premier League is seen as the type of premium content that will help establish Apple TV in the UK and boost iPad sales, while the iTunes subscription service infrastructure is already in place.

The involvement of Apple - and their great multimedia rivals Google are also expected to make similar soundings - would give the PL a hugely competitive market at a time when the price of other TV sports rights are in decline.

The three certain bidders will be Sky, who paid £1.6billion for their current packages, ESPN, who say they are determined to buy more PL content, and Middle East network Al Jezeera, who also have the resources to break the Rupert Murdoch stranglehold on the Premier League.

In contrast the FA have had...

A Sister’s Eulogy for Steve Jobs = Beautiful.

November 1, 2011

I grew up as an only child, with a single mother. Because we were poor and because I knew my father had emigrated from Syria, I imagined he looked like Omar Sharif. I hoped he would be rich and kind and would come into our lives (and our not yet furnished apartment) and help us. Later, after I’d met my father, I tried to believe he’d changed his number and left no forwarding address because he was an idealistic revolutionary, plotting a new world for the Arab people.

Even as a feminist, my whole life I’d been waiting for a man to love, who could love me. For decades, I’d thought that man would be my father. When I was 25, I met that man and he was my brother.

By then, I lived in New York, where I was trying to write my first novel. I had a job at a small magazine in an office the size of a closet, with three other aspiring writers. When one day a lawyer called me — me, the middle-class girl from California who hassled the boss to buy us health insurance — and said...

40% of Tablet and Smartphone Owners Use Them While Watching TV!

October 13, 2011

American consumers are increasingly connected and our recent survey shows they are increasingly multitasking when it comes to multimedia.

Roughly 40 percent of tablet and smartphone owners in the U.S. used their devices daily while watching TV, while only 14 percent of eReader owners said they watched TV while using their device every day.

And what are smartphone and tablet owners doing while watching TV? Checking email. Email was the top activity for both men and women during television programming and commercial breaks. In addition, women reported engaging in social networking more than men, while men checked sports scores more often.

Advertisers should take note that while viewers may be splitting attention between two (or three!) screens, 19 percent of smartphone and tablet owners searched for product information and 13 percent searched for coupons or deals while the television was on.

Steve Jobs on Why He Wore Black Turtlenecks

October 13, 2011

Steve Jobs's black turtlenecks helped make him the world's most recognizable CEO. But the Apple co-founder wouldn't have worn them if his employees had accepted the nylon jacket he proposed as a corporate uniform instead. Before he died, Jobs himself explained his sartorial signature to biographer Walter Isaacson, in an interview published for the first time below.

Today, Jobs' fashion choices look downright visionary. Acclaimed designer Ralph Rucci has called 501 jeans and black turtlenecks like Jobs's two of the three most "wholly original" pieces of clothing in modern fashion. Sales of Jobs style turtlenecks spiked in the days following his death last week.

But before he was a cultural icon parodied on Saturday Night Live, imitated in TV commercials, and celebrated in a national theatrical production, Jobs was regarded as a corporate oddball, even within his own company. According to Isaacson's book Steve Jobs, due out in two weeks, Apple employees jeered their boss's scheme...

Thank You Steve Jobs...

October 6, 2011

My thoughts and prayers are with Steve Job's Family and Friends.

I have been using an Apple computer and their products for over 30 years.

I have followed the company and Steve Jobs over the years through good and bad times. I have read numerous books, articles, blog posts, etc... Yes, I am an Apple Fan Boy just as otherss are a fan of Michael Jordan, Jerry Rice, U2, etc...

Steve Jobs was so far ahead of the pack not only in building great products but also his philosophy for building products in general.

Do you know who the CEO of Coke, Sony, Pepsi, Disney, Ford, etc... is? You know who the CEO of Apple was. Steve Jobs was the CEO of CEO's.

To put things in perspective I rounded up a few facts about Steve Jobs and his return to Apple.

Steve Jobs retuned to Apple at the end of 1996 and retired August 2011.

  • Patents:
    • Over 300 Patents or about 1 new patent every 2 weeks!
      • Bill Gates (Microsoft) = 9 patents
      • Larry Page and Sergey Brin (Google) = A little over a dozen
    • ...

Steve Jobs: Ex-Apple CEO Dies. RIP Steve Jobs - You Are An Incredible And Creative Man!

October 5, 2011

Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind Apple's iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes, has died in California. Jobs was 56.

His death was reported by The Associated Press, citing Apple.

Jobs co-founded Apple Computer in 1976 and, with his childhood friend Steve Wozniak, marketed what was considered the world's first personal computer, the Apple II.

Industry watchers called him a master innovator -- perhaps on a par with Thomas Edison -- changing the worlds of computing, recorded music and communications.

In 2004, he beat back an unusual form of pancreatic cancer, and in 2009 he was forced to get a liver transplant. After several years of failing health, Jobs announced on Aug. 24, 2011 that he was stepping down as Apple's chief executive.

"I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know," Jobs wrote in his letter of resignation. "Unfortunately, that day has come."
